Scot McKnight: Can Noah’s Flood Explain the Grand Canyon?

Today I wish to direct your attention to a post by Scot McKnight which reviews a new book “The Grand Canyon, Monument to an Ancient Earth: Can Noah’s Flood Explain the Grand Canyon?“.  The book looks at the geology of the Grand Canyon and asks if the differing conclusions reached by mainstream geologists and those who hold to a young earth view are merely a matter of worldview.  It explains why it is unreasonable to postulate that all the layers of the Grand Canyon were deposited during a single worldwide flood lasting about one year.  Those who hold to the young earth view are not committed to the Bible but to a certain way of reading and interpreting certain passages in the Bible that is accepted without question.  Young earth creationism does not stand up to the scientific evidence; claiming that it does and making that a cornerstone of Christian belief will only drive people away from the Christian faith.
